What about us?

NAMI CCNS is a grass roots organization and an affiliate of the NAMI National Organization. NAMI CCNS was started in the late 1990s and progressed and grew due to the dedicated efforts of a community that understood just how much NAMI could help people.

People’s lives are indeed put back together after they attend our classes and support groups. NAMI CCNS is that powerful. We have testimony from member after member on how much our courses, support and resources have helped them.

From garages, basements and attics NAMI CCNS began to build its membership and create a network of classes and supports in the communities of our area. In 2007, NAMI CCNS finally moved into its current office in Northfield. From these humble but serviceable offices we now have made headway into 17 communities and serve well over 1000 people each year.

As an organization we value a collaborative model. We use each others strengths and look for ways to fill our mission more diligently and more thoroughly each and every day.

Over time on these pages, we will be asking some of our more veteran members to share the stories of the beginnings of NAMI CCNS. In the interim please know that our original founders were people of vision who understood the adage “it takes a village” far better than most of their generation.
