Volunteer Opportunities

We love our volunteers. NAMI CCNS runs on the power of generous, talented people who can give of their time and skill sets. And, we have such a variety of opportunities that we are sure to be able to incorporate you in mutually beneficial ways.

Our current needs include:

Sporadic OFFICE and ADMINISTRATIVE HELP
We frequently have projects and mailings that require folding, stuffing envelopes, addressing etc.  These types of  “all hands on deck” efforts are associated with our quarterly mailings, end of the year appeals, Gala invitations, and the occasional event for specific events throughout the year.

Our next “CAN YOU HELP TODAY” effort will be in mid-March as we ready our NEWSLINE to be mailed out. Stay tuned for details!

GALA HELP
Do you have a penchant for the grandiose stuff? Come work with our Gala committee! They need your brains and your brawn: Soliciting sponsors, working on the food coordination, sending out invitations, graphic arts help, setting up, driving errands, so many many things to do…

If you are interested in helping with the April 30th 2011 Gala planning, please call the office and we will direct you to our Gala coordinator. This work will guarantee you a place in heaven!

DATABASE / CONSTANT CONTACT HELP
We always need people to assist us with data entry and maintaining our many and varied marketing lists. Someone interested in this should have excellent computers skills, have experience with a database and be able to work independently and on “the team.”

EVENT COORDINATORS and CREW MEMBERS
We need people to head up and/or be strong team players for specific events we have throughout the year. These individuals should be good with details, know how to lead or be a working member of  a crew, be able to coordinate their efforts with our office and be willing to work independently while remaining a critical part of our event team. Some of our development activities for which we need coordinators and participants  include a “Tag Day” fundraiser, a NAMI WALK, musical review evenings, the annual Gala, etc.

GRANT & DEVELOPMENT HELP
If you have some experience with grant writing, or even a real penchant to dig into this area and learn, we certainly have work for you. Someone who will help us with development needs to be an excellent researcher, someone who enjoys writing and expressing themselves in strict formats, and someone who knows how to work with adjunct organizations, big and small… Do you LIKE soliciting monies and support for a cause you are passionate about? If so, please join us.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATION -
We have so many great people working with us. It would be terrific to have someone to whom all our volunteers could turn for scheduling, office support, logistics, directions, etc. Do you love working with people? Mentoring and coaching? We’d love to have you head up a volunteer program.

TEACHING
We frequently have need for new FAMILY to FAMILY or BASICS teachers. If you are a class graduate and would like to teach, let us know. We know you “get it.” Trainings are held twice a year in central IL. We’ll discuss your role and when you might be able to become certified. No teaching background is required, however an ability to connect easily with others and to be compassionate and accepting are critical skills for our teachers.

SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATION
Leading our Support Groups is key to our ongoing mission. In every community we need people who have “walked the walk and talked the talk” to help others who are still in crisis or in the throes of needing support. You can make the difference. This is generally a weekly or monthly responsibility. You need to be someone who is compassionate and works well with a variety of people.

NEWSLETTER FORMATTING
We require an individual with expertise at formatting and graphics to help us put together both the hard copy and electronic copy of our regularly published newsletters. This person would work in conjunction with our dedicated Newsline editor and help us to expand our ability to communicate with our members and larger community.
