About the Support Group
For service members dealing with mental illness or mental health issues and Star Families. Share problems you are facing and learn how others have dealt with the same issues. You can talk with no fear of stigma or shame. Please call the number below before attending the meeting.
Registration and screening are required. Register by completing the form below and calling Dr. Phil Metres. Dr. Phil Metres is the facilitator of this group and must speak with participants before their arrival to the group. Phone Number to reach out for facilitator: 847-498-3623.
Program Logistics:

Criteria to participate should be as follows:
- Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
- Have a current diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder
- Not currently court mandated to attend treatment
- Is willing to participate of his/her/their own accord.
Related Events
NAMI CCNS is a grass roots organization and an affiliate of the NAMI National organization. Our affiliate was started in the early 1990’s by a group of family members who were all dealing with the challenges of loved ones with mental illness. They offered a Family to Family class and that was the beginning of our affiliate, which now serves over 17 communities in our catchment area.
